Interior Trends Autumn 2017

Green furnishings

With the nights drawing in and the leaves starting to fall, Autumn is easing the transition from Summer to Winter. As we embrace this blustery season of cosy nights in, we take a look at some of the interior trends taking us by storm in Autumn 2017.

It’s all about Green

2017 is all about green. Last popular in the 1980’s, these rejuvenating hues can immediately add life to even the most mundane setting. You can opt for soft light shades or natural tones, depending on your interior preference, but playing a leading role this season are luscious leaf green and dramatic dark tones. If you’re feeling brave about going green, this versatile colour has been tipped to be particularly popular in kitchens this season. Expect to see the introduction of green cabinets being elegantly combined with rich natural finishes to create an atmospheric look. Elsewhere in the home, the summer season’s fascination with nature will continue, but with a shift into more rich, floral patterns.

Opulence and Luxe

Plush, patterned fabrics are set to complement the bold jewel colours of the season and crushed velvet, an interior design classic of the 1970’s, is tipped to make a comeback in Autumn 2017. Expect  an opulent look that combines luxe materials and burnished metallic. This trend works particularly well in the bedroom where statement upholstery features on bed frames and bedside tables are likely to prove popular.

Add influences from around the world, such as deep pile patterned rugs and tropical palm motifs, to create an on-trend vibe.

Moody Shades

It’s out with the bright, stark whites and pastel tones of Spring and Summer as Autumn brings out our nocturnal side with cosy shades of black.

Dark tones can add a touch of class to any room, making ordinary, plain furniture stand out. Why not try positioning feature wall art designs against dark backdrops, to create a stunning effect in your home.

Make a Statement

Statement pieces will be a must this Autumn and fabulous ceiling ornament can add heaps of character to any room. Try updating your light fitting to either a show stopping pendant light or chandelier or go for clean, simple lines for a clean contemporary finish.

Geometric meets Scandi

The scandi look is being updated this season, with metallic touches and darker grey accents making an appearance, alongside increasingly popular bold geometric prints. This versatile trend will create a fresh, contemporary feel in any room. Bare floors are key to this trend, add a rug for a touch of warmth.
