At Hart, we like to think of ourselves as experts in our field – and it’s no wonder with over 50 years’ experience under our belt. Our core function is the delivery of residential developments, with build sizes ranging from 10-250 units and contract values of up to £25 million. But, our expertise goes further than just residential builds. We also deliver new build schools and extensions to schools, as well as leisure, office, health and care-home projects for a variety of private and public sector clients.
Now for the technical stuff. Our residential projects are delivered predominantly through design and build contracts, with varying degrees of complexity. We regularly deliver 4 storey+ buildings with steel and concrete structures and complicated M+E requirements, including centralised boiler plants and an array of energy saving and sustainable features. These are now highly sought after skills in large housing projects, as clients seek to reduce fuel poverty and maximise the use of communal heating and renewables. Recent projects have been constructed in many forms including structural steel, structural concrete, lightweight steel, timber frame and panelised systems.
When Hart is introduced early enough in the design process, this is when our expertise really shines. We work closely with the designers to assess the most efficient approach to the structure, adding significant value to the project.
And it’s not just our construction skills we strive for excellence in. We pride ourselves in how we collaborate. We work in partnership with clients, designers and all other stakeholders and have a wealth of experience in many types of contracts, including Design and Build, Traditional, PPC 2000 and Partnering Agreements. We are regularly procured post planning and are required to appoint consultants and obtain RCC, Scottish Water Consents and Building warrants through design and build contracts – managing the risk associated with this.
Regeneration is also high on our agenda as a business. Hart has been responsible for the delivery of a number of large-scale regeneration projects at Craigmillar, Gracemount, Moredun, Hyvot and Pennywell, working closely with The City of Edinburgh Council, RSL Clients, as well as local stakeholders and local communities. This has allowed us to deliver not only new build homes for a mix of tenures, but also significant community benefits.
All this expertise doesn’t mean much unless you have the flexibility and creativity to adapt to problems, as and when they happen. And thankfully, we do. When others see problems, we see solutions. And that’s why we always get the job done.
