Demolition work is underway to prepare the site for a new housing project that will breathe new life into an increasingly popular district of Edinburgh.

Formerly the site of multi-let offices and workshops, the £11m ‘Bonnington Mill’ development will deliver 49 quality apartments - 36 properties for private sale and 13 affordable apartments.

The homes are being built by Cruden Homes for Queensberry Properties (QPL), a joint venture between Cruden Homes (East) Ltd and Buccleuch Properties.  The first apartments are due to be ready in autumn 2020 with work expected to be fully complete by early 2021.

The one, two and three-bedroom apartments are located on a scenic setting - alongside the banks of the Water of Leith and Newhaven Road, with the majority featuring a private balcony or terrace.  The development also includes central courtyard providing parking facilities as well as an open space on the riverbank with a landscaped amenity area for residents.

Steven Simpson, managing director of Cruden Homes (East) Ltd said, “We are pleased to get underway with work on the Bonnington Mill development, which is the latest in an impressive line of prime residential developments that we have delivered in Edinburgh.
