Port of Leith Housing Association’s development site at S2 Western Harbour Edinburgh was selected as the venue to announce the Scottish Governments ÂŁ55million Innovation and Investment Fund.

Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment said “With the public purse under huge financial strain we need radical and innovative approaches to increase housing supply at maximum value for taxpayers’ money. Housing Associations have embraced the new financial reality by proposing new housing developments delivered at subsidy levels that would have been unthinkable a few years ago. This package alone will achieve over 1850 affordable homes and support job security in the Scottish Construction Sector”

Robert Kerr, Business Development Director at Hart replied by saying “S2 provides 111 well designed contemporary homes and it is very encouraging to see associations like Port of Leith working collaboratively with the Scottish Government with the aim of securing innovative investment funding to tackle the desperate need for more affordable homes in Edinburgh. This development will not only provide a secure and sustainable environment but will enable Hart to maintain current employment and training opportunities over the lifetime of the construction programme”.
